UPS and FedEx raise 2026 holiday residential surcharges by about 25%
UPS has published 2026–27 peak demand surcharges starting Sept. 27 for oversized parcels and Oct. 25 for residential ground, with FedEx's residential peak fees also higher than last year. Sellers shipping direct to consumers through either carrier will pay more per parcel from late October to mid-January.
UPS has published its 2026–2027 demand surcharges. Surcharges on packages that trigger Additional Handling, Large Package or over-maximum-limit fees start Sept. 27, residential and Ground Saver demand surcharges start Oct. 25, and all run through Jan. 16, 2027. FedEx has also set higher peak charges for Ground Residential and Home Delivery starting Oct. 26, according to Value Added Resource.
