Amazon blocks Meta's Muse agent while Shopify stores stay open to it
Amazon began blocking Meta's Muse AI agent from buying on Amazon.com, while Shopify merchants remain discoverable and purchasable in Muse by default. Sellers on both channels face a split in how AI agents can reach them.
Amazon began blocking Meta's Muse AI agent from shopping on Amazon.com over the weekend. By Sunday night, Sept. 20, Muse users trying to buy on Amazon saw a message stating: "Continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's Conditions of Use, to which our customers have agreed." Shopify, by contrast, has made its merchants' products discoverable and purchasable in Muse by default since Muse launched on Sept. 8.
